About Us

BMGCA is the Briarbrook Morgan's Grant Community Association. We are committed volunteers who represent the residents of Briarbrook, Brookside and Morgan's Grant to the City of Ottawa. We also organize events throughout the year, including:

·        General meetings

·        Christmas lights competition

·        Winter family fun day

·        Spring community clean-up

·        Community-wide garage sale

·        Annual multicultural summer festival

Briarbrook, Brookside and Morgan's Grant are located off March Road in Kanata, Ontario, Canada.

Compost Bins and Rain Barrels

BMGCA members are entitled to a $20 voucher for the purchase of a compost bin, and are now entitled to a second $20 voucher for the purchase of a rain barrel. This offer in partnership with Trudel Home Hardware. A limited number of vouchers are available. Please see "Available to BMGCA Members!" in the Environment page for more details.

Keeping the area clean and green - volunteers needed

BMGCA will initiate an invasive plant removal program. This program will be a multi-year initiative that will focus on controlling invasive plant species within our parks and natural areas that have been identified as threats to our neighbouring South March Highlands Conservation Forest.

Three activities need volunteers' support: removal of buckthorn from Klondike Woods Park, garlic mustard from Trillium Woods/Goulbourn Forced Road, and dog strangling vine from Trillium Woods. Dates for these activities are:

·        Sunday, May 3, 1:00 to 3:00 PM (Klondike Woods Park, Halton Terrace)

·        Sunday, June 7, 1:00 to 3:00 PM (Trillium Woods/Goulbourn Forced Road)

·        Sunday, July 12, 1:00 to 3:00 PM (Trillium Woods/March Road)

Anyone interested in helping is invited to contact Sarah Dehler, BMGCA parks & recreation at (613) 592-5832.

Membership Drive

Volunteers from BMGCA will launch a membership drive to coincide with the coming of spring. Over the coming weeks, please welcome them when they come to your door. Family memberships are $10 per year, and $15 for two years. Members receive free entry to our Summer Festival and Winter Family Fun Day. Membership dues also support our anti-graffiti strategy and our ice-rink maintenance. Members also receive regular updates and newsletters to keep them informed about goings-on in our community and the city-at-large. For more information or to volunteer in any capacity please contact BMGCA President Matt Muirhead at mattmuirhead@ymail.com.

JOIN US ON FACEBOOK

BMGCA has set up a group on facebook. It complements this website by offering interactivity. You can share photos and videos, hold discussions, and write notes on The Wall (ones that the graffiti squad won't have to remove).

To join, login to facebook, search for bmgca, and then follow the prompts.
